Depop
eBay Owns Depop Now. What Happens to Its Fees?
What happened
eBay completed its acquisition of Depop on July 30, 2026. As of today, nothing has changed on Depop's fee page: UK/US/AUS sellers still pay no selling commission, payment processing runs 3.3% + $0.45 in the US, and Boost ads cost 12%. But fee structures do not survive corporate integrations intact — and eBay now owns two of the largest resale platforms with opposite fee philosophies (13.6% commission on one side, zero on the other).
Why sellers should care now
Acquisitions of this kind follow a pattern: nothing for a few quarters, then "unified" infrastructure, then a fee book that looks more like the parent's. Depop sellers have enjoyed the cheapest seller-side math in resale since 2024 — that window now has an owner with a quarterly earnings line to defend. The realistic timeline for any fee move is 6–18 months from close, which puts the first plausible change in early-to-mid 2027 — and eBay's own February update cycle is the obvious vehicle for it.
What to do about it
- Re-price your Depop margin as if a commission may return — the pre-2024 10% is the obvious template, and sellers who ran their numbers then still have them.
- Cross-list while it's free. Vinted (zero seller fees) and Mercari (flat 10%) are the hedges; our comparator shows your exact payout on each.
- Watch this space. We monitor Depop's official fee page weekly — any change lands in our changelog and this news section within 48 hours, with the seller math worked out for you.
