Depop fees at a glance (2026)

For US sellers, Depop charges no selling fee: the only mandatory seller-side cost is payment processing of 3.3% + $0.45 per sale. Boost ads add 12% if you opt in. On the other side of the checkout, UK and US buyers pay a Marketplace fee of up to 5% + $1.00. Sellers outside the UK, US, and Australia still pay Depop's classic 10% commission. Every figure on this page was verified on 2026-10-14, with sources linked below each table.

Seller fees: the zero-commission model

"Does Depop have seller fees?" is the most-asked question in this space for a reason: the answer changed. Until 2024, Depop's selling fees were a flat 10% commission on every sale. Then Depop scrapped it — first in the UK (March 2024), then the US (July 2024) and Australia. Today, Depop selling fees for UK/US/AUS sellers consist of exactly one mandatory line: payment processing. No commission, no listing fee, no subscription, no final value fee. If any guide still quotes a 10% Depop fee for US sellers, it's written from the pre-2024 model. (The 10% rate survives only for sellers outside those three markets — see below.)

The honest caveat: "zero seller fees" doesn't mean Depop works for free. The company moved its take to two other places — the buyer's checkout and your ad spend. Understanding all three is the difference between pricing profitably and slowly bleeding margin. Most confusion about Depop sellers fees comes from guides written between the old 10% era and today, so check the date on anything you read — including this page, whose verification date is stamped above.

Worked example: a $50 sale, both sides of the checkout

On a $50 item with free shipping: you pay 3.3% + $0.45 in processing ($2.10) and keep $47.90; with Boost on, subtract another $6.00 for $41.90. Meanwhile your buyer pays about $53.50 once the Marketplace fee (up to 5% + $1.00) is added at checkout. Those two numbers capture the complete Depop fees for selling in the US in 2026 — anything else called a "Depop fee" is either a shipping label, an optional ad, or a leftover from the pre-2024 era.

The Depop payment processing fee

Every sale made through the BUY button pays payment processing through Depop Payments (Stripe): 3.3% + $0.45 for US sellers, 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK, and 2.6% + $0.30 AUD in Australia. The fee base is the item price plus shipping charged plus any applicable taxes — so the more of the shipping cost you pass to the buyer, the slightly more processing you pay. On a $40 item with $6 shipping, processing is 3.3% of $46 plus $0.45: $1.97, leaving you $44.03 before any label cost. This is the complete mandatory Depop fee for selling in the US — there is no other.

The Depop Boost fee

Boost is Depop's native ad product: your listing gets premium placement in search and category feeds, and you pay only when a Boosted listing sells through that placement. Depop's help center formally calls it the Boosting fee, so the "Depop boosting fee" you see quoted at 8% in older posts is the same product with last year's price tag. The rate that matters in 2026 is 12% of the item price plus shipping (when you don't use a Depop shipping label) — raised from 8% for new listings on March 23, 2026. Most guides and even some fee calculators still quote the old 8%, which understates a Boosted sale's cost by a third. On a $50 sale, Boost costs $6 — more than triple your processing fee — so treat it as a customer-acquisition expense to switch on deliberately, not a default. The calculator above has a Boost toggle; use it before every pricing decision on a Boosted item.

Depop shipping fees

Shipping itself isn't a Depop fee, but it interacts with every fee you pay. Depop offers prepaid labels (charged to the buyer by default, or to you if you choose free shipping), and you can always ship on your own. Three consequences worth knowing: first, processing is charged on item plus buyer-paid shipping, so charging $10 shipping adds roughly $0.33 to your fee. Second, if you don't use a Depop label, the Boost fee base includes your shipping charge. Third, "free shipping" listings convert better but move the label cost — usually $4–8 — onto your side of the ledger. Run both setups in the calculator and watch the net payout before you commit.

What buyers pay: the Marketplace fee

Here's the half of the 2024 story most sellers missed: Depop didn't eliminate fees, it moved them. Since April 2024 in the UK and July 2024 in the US, buyers pay a Marketplace fee of up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1.00 per order (excluding shipping and tax), which funds Depop Protection, support, and platform marketing. It shows up in the buyer's checkout, never on your payout statement — but it raises your buyer's total by roughly 5–6%, which quietly shapes what price the market will bear. On a $50 item, your buyer pays about $53.50 before shipping. When you compare Depop against platforms that charge buyers nothing, factor that friction in; when you compare against Mercari or Vinted, note they charge buyers similar protection fees.

Sellers outside the UK, US, and Australia

The zero-commission model is region-locked. Depop seller fees for anyone selling outside those three markets follow the classic structure: a 10% selling fee on the item price (excluding taxes) plus shipping if not using a Depop label, plus PayPal processing at whatever rate your country and account type carry. The Marketplace fee may also still appear on your buyers' checkouts depending on their location.

The fee base: what Depop actually charges on

Each Depop fee has a different base, and mixing them up is how sellers underprice:

  • Processing — item price + shipping charged + applicable taxes.
  • Boost — item price (excluding taxes) + shipping, if you didn't use a Depop label.
  • Selling fee (non-UK/US/AUS) — item price (excluding taxes) + shipping, same basis as Boost.
  • Marketplace fee (buyer) — item price only, excluding shipping and tax.

The calculator above applies each base correctly per line — that's why the breakdown shows its arithmetic instead of a single blended percentage.

Depop fees vs other marketplaces

On pure seller-side math, Depop is the cheapest major resale platform in 2026: ~3.8% all-in on a typical sale versus Mercari's 10%, eBay's ~13.6% + $0.40, and Poshmark's 20%. But the buyer-side Marketplace fee narrows the real-world gap, and with Boost on, Depop's total take approaches eBay's. The platform that pays you most depends on your exact price and shipping — run the same item through the all-platform comparator and the answer sorts itself.

One watch item: the eBay acquisition

eBay completed its acquisition of Depop on July 30, 2026. No fee changes have followed yet, but fee structures do eventually move after deals like this — either toward eBay's model or toward a unified seller/buyer split. We monitor Depop's official fee pages weekly and post every change to the history section below and our changelog, usually within 48 hours of an official update.
