Depop

Depop Boost Jumped 8% → 12% for New Listings

What changed

For listings created on or after March 23, 2026, Depop's Boost — the optional ad placement in search and category feeds — costs 12% of the item price plus shipping (if you don't use a Depop label), up from 8%. It remains opt-in and charged only when a Boosted listing sells through the placement.

What it does to your math

Depop's seller-side fees without Boost are the cheapest in resale: zero commission plus 3.3% + $0.45 processing — about $2.10 on a $50 sale. Boost at 12% adds $6.00 to that same sale. Total: $8.10, which lands right in eBay territory (13.6% + $0.40 = $7.20) and worse than Mercari's flat $5.00. The platform's "cheapest" crown now depends entirely on whether you Boost.

When Boost still pays

  • Stale inventory: a 12% fee on a sale beats a 0% fee on an item that never sells. Boost is a liquidation tool, not a default.
  • Items priced for it: if you listed with Boost's 12% baked into the price from day one, the margin holds — reprice before toggling it on anything older.
  • High-margin pieces: at 50%+ margins, 12% for faster velocity is usually worth it. Below 30%, Boost eats the sale.

Run both scenarios in the Depop fee calculator — the Boost toggle shows the two payouts side by side before you touch a listing. And if you're repricing a closet around the new 12%, remember buyers also pay Depop's Marketplace fee at checkout — the full stack is on the Depop fees guide.
