TikTok Shop Quietly Revised Its Fee Table to 6%

What changed

In May 2026, TikTok Shop revised its US referral-fee table: most categories now pay 6%, and jewelry plus pre-owned items pay 5% — with payment processing included in the rate. There is no separate transaction fee on top.

Why most guides are wrong right now

TikTok Shop's fee history moved fast: introductory rates under 3% at launch, a staged climb to roughly 8% through 2024, and now the May 2026 revision. That means three generations of fee advice are circulating — and the most-shared ones describe the middle regime. If your margin model assumes 8% plus a processing line, you're overestimating costs by roughly a third on a $50 order (about $1.50 per sale). On thin-margin volume inventory, that gap alone is the difference between a product that works and one that never did.

What sellers should do

  • Re-run your prices at 6% — the revision may have quietly restored margin you assumed was gone, especially on mid-price items.
  • Remember what's not in the rate: creator affiliate commissions (typically 10–20%, set by you) and refund admin fees (~20% of the referral fee, capped ~$5/SKU) still stack on top. The 6% is the platform's floor, not your landed cost — treat it as the number you can't negotiate, and manage the ones you can.
  • Verify against Seller Center before large inventory commitments — the current table is linked above, and our TikTok Shop fee calculator runs it exactly. Both are dated, so you'll always know which regime you're reading.
